  • The Modulate is part of Adidas’ Climacool series that features unmatched breathability through 360 degrees of ventilation. Besides having an ultra-breathable mesh, the sole and outsole of the running shoe are lined with numerous ports to allow unhindered airflow that is sure to guarantee a cool run in the hottest conditions.
  • Adidas places this line in the middle of the Climacool series for those who love the specs of a traditional neutralshoe but without its usual weight. It has an old school type of stack height with a 12mm heel difference but is also very light that it can even double as a race day shoe for those who are used to running fast in high heel-to-toe offset. Based on its price, Adidas aims to provide entry-level runners a shoe that is very comfortable and extremely functional.

The generous fit of the Climacool Modulate offers runners a very comfortable platform to train or to race. While the space is quite generous, it is not sloppy by any means. With this kind of fit, most runners will find their comfort zones out of the box. Medium is the available width of this shoe. Size runs true with options for the men’s between 7 to 14 and 5 to 11 for the women’s.


Adidas Climacool Modulate Outsole

Adidas’ abrasion-resistant and non-marking rubber compound in the adiWEAR covers the entire outsole. It provides a decent grip on the road and exceptional durability. The Modulate gets a good amount of flexibility from the flex grooves in the forefoot. These grooves also enhance the rear-to-front cycle of every stride. As the finishing part of the 360 degrees of ventilation, the outsole has several ports for air to move freely.


A standard EVA covers the entire midsole for adequate durability and cushioning. Adidas incorporates the Formotion Technology in the midsole or the pair of sliding plates that adjust every landing for lesser impact and quicker transition. Again, the midsole has perforations as part of the shoe’s ultra-breathable features.


A near-seamless and ultra-breathable Cool Ever Mesh provides excellent upper coverage. The iconic 3 stripes act as the main midfoot feature that gives structure and support to the shoe. Breathability continues in the presence of the heavily-perforated sockliner. For some traditional kind of support, the heel is reinforced by a heel counter to really cradle the foot and eliminate heel slippage. Runners will love the moderately-padded ankle collar and tongue for a really comfortable ride.

The Adidas Climacool Modulate aims to mix minimalist features with traditional ones. One either loves or hates the shoe as it seems to represent the features in their extremes. While it is often called light as air, very flexible, and with almost no arch support, it also has a rather high stack height and a whopping 12mm offset. And just like the popular AdidasUltraboost 19 is an excellent shoe for the right runner as the durability, performance, and price of this shoe is simply hard to match.
