Updates to Altra Intuition 4.0
- The Altra Intuition 4.0 is a running shoe that’s designed specifically for women. This update has a few noticeable differences from its predecessor. Rather than utilizing a traditional mesh to make up the upper unit, this one has the fabric-like construction of the Engineered Mesh. It has lesser overlays, but they work in order to keep the runner safe and secure inside the shoe. The lace-eyelets have been reinforced with some stitching, as well.
- A more durable midsole has been employed in this Altra running shoe. The layer on which the foot stands is made from environmentally friendly materials, but is responsive and agreeable. Beneath that is a dual-layer foam, which delivers resilient and long-lasting cushioning.
- The outsole unit of the Altra Intuition 4.0 makes use of the FootPod design. It basically follows the anatomical shape and motion of the human foot, giving way for natural flexibility to take place. Rubber sections mimic the façade of the underside of the human’s foot, with grooves and decoupled sections that encourage graceful motion.

The Altra Intuition 4.0 fits small, so it is recommended for runners to get half-a-size larger in order to receive a more relaxed fit. The available width is medium. This shoe was designed with the woman’s foot-shape in mind.
Altra Intuition 4.0 Outsole
The outsole unit of the Altra Intuition 4.0 consists of the FootPod design. It follows the natural shape of the foot, basically mimicking its flex points and areas of ground-contact. Rubber covers and protects the mid-sole from abrasion.
The same as the Intuition 4.5, the flex grooves and a decoupled heel make each step much smoother and less taxing to the foot, essentially making the stride as agreeable as possible.

The immediate underfoot area of the Altra Intuition 4.0 has the A-Bound cushioning unit, which is made from recycled materials. It offers responsive yet resilient cushioning for the runner.
A Dual-Layer Ethylene vinyl acetate foam is used to deliver long-lasting cushioning. This industry-standard unit is durable and reliable when it comes to keeping the foot safe from the impact forces.
The Support Insole a thickness of 6mm. It’s designed to follow the contours of the underfoot, thus giving some mild support to areas that aren’t typically cushioned. It can be removed or replaced.
Altra Intuition 4.0 Upper
Engineered Mesh is the main material used for the Altra Intuition 4.0. It has a fabric-like quality to it, akin to knitted cloth. Its open construction allows environmental air to enter the foot-chamber, thus keeping the foot cool and dry.
Stitched overlays in the forefoot and heel provide structure to the upper unit. They also protect those respective sections of the runner’s foot while also affording a secure lockdown.
The padded tongue and collar cushions the top area of the wearer’s foot. They also prevent wobbling or accidental shoe-removal.
A traditional lacing system loops through eyelets that have been reinforced with stitching.

Altra Intuition 4.0 Pro Side
