ALTRA LONE PEAK 2.0
Updates to Altra Lone Peak 2.0
- The Altra Lone Peak 2.0 is a trail running shoe that delivers great service and solid performance to those who want to go through the off-road paths with ease. It features helpful technologies and systems, which work together in order to protect and secure the foot well. Natural foot movement is encouraged when it comes to this model, so it’s a running shoe for the neutral runner.
- The upper unit of the 2nd version of the Lone Peak uses a mesh material that is durable and flexible. It allows air to maintain a cool environment for the foot. It’s also made to manage moisture. Sweat and mild moisture are wicked off by the material used here, keeping the shoe and the foot dry. The GaiterTrap™ Tech is a hook-and-loop section that allows separate gaiters to easily attach to the shoe.
- The A-Bound™ is a mid-sole technology that’s made from recycled materials. Its purpose is to reduce the impact shock that’s received during the striking phase of the gait cycle, as well as make each liftoff bouncier. It’s layered above a durable, but responsive EVA foam. A StoneGuard™ Rock Protection Plate is placed between the EVA and A-Bound™; its purpose is to shield the foot from stones and other trail hazards.
- The outsole unit uses the Trail Claw™ technology. Sticky rubber is the compound used for surface control and traction. Additional grip over uneven surfaces is handled by gripping lugs that face different directions.
Altra Lone Peak 2.0 Size and fit
The Altra Lone Peak 2.0 runs a bit small. It is recommended that runners choose a size that’s ½ larger than what they’re used to in order to get a more comfortable fit. The available width is medium, but the toe box is wider because it’s designed to give more space for the toes to splay. The semi-curved shape of this shoe accommodates the natural shape of the human foot.
Altra Lone Peak 2.0 Outsole
The Trail Claw™ is the outsole design of the Altra Lone Peak 2.0. It uses sticky rubber to provide protection and traction. Gripping lugs are positioned all over this external layer. Facing different directions, they make traversing multiple surfaces much easier. Uphill and downhill treks become much easier because of this.
Altra Lone Peak 2.0 Midsole
The A-Bound™ is a midsole technology that’s made from recycled materials. This full-length unit is placed right under the foot and is also used in the Lone Peak 4.0. Its springy nature gives a bit of energy to the lift-off. It is even able to attenuate shock during the landing phase.
EVA is the platform below the top layer of the mid-sole unit. It is responsive and it doesn’t break down easily, so it stays efficient even after many uses. It delivers additional cushioning and support to the foot, working along with the A-Bound™ to maintain the comfortable underfoot experience that the runner gets.
The StoneGuard™ is a rock protection plate that’s sandwiched between the A-Bound™ and the EVA foam. It protects the foot from any rugged terrain or potentially harmful debris. It doesn’t have a stiff nature, so it won’t restrict the natural movement of the foot.
Altra Lone Peak 2.0 Upper
The Quick-Dry Trail Mesh is the main fabric of the Altra Lone Peak 2.0. It shields the interior from debris infiltration, but it allows air to seamlessly enter the shoe in order to keep a well-ventilated environment for the foot. Its moisture-wicking properties keep the shoe free from odor-causing sweat or moisture.
Minimal seams mean that skin irritation is reduced. The runner can even wear this shoe without actual socks.
The GaiterTrap™ Tech is a hook-and-loop tab to which gaiters are connected. There’s no need to strap them under the outsole, which is impractical and potentially damaging to the gaiter.
