Updates to Asics Gel Pulse 8
- The changes in the Gel Pulse 8 are focused on the upper for a better and a more accommodating fit. To achieve this, Asics removed many of the thick overlays in the midfoot. In their place are printed overlays. The alteration includes doing away with the stitched toe protection. A welded overlay provides a less constrictive option in the forefoot.
- A subtle change in the upper is the more open mesh. The forefoot holes in the mesh are larger. It ensures the run to be very cool and sweat-free.
- The tongue has slightly more padding than before as well. With better padding in the tongue, the shoe should be more comfortable than ever.
Asics Gel Pulse 8 Size and fit
Asics brings back the fit of the previous model of the Pulse, except that the 8th version is a little more accommodating. It continues to have a snug fit in the heel and forefoot before it widens a little in the forefoot for some wiggle room. The sizing is accurate in this shoe.
Asics Gel Pulse 8 Outsole
The outsole is a typical Asics road shoe. It is covered with AHAR rubber in the heel and other areas where wear and tear mostly happens. A softer blown rubber is located in the forefoot for better traction. The ever-present Guidance Line or vertical flex groove makes the transition smooth in this shoe. As always this vertical flex groove joins the horizontal flex grooves in the forefoot for flexibility.
Asics Gel Pulse 8 Midsole
An Asics staple in the SpEVA runs the length of the midsole for more consistent and responsive cushioning. It helps with the transition as well. The award-winning, silicon-based Gel cushioning in the heel and the forefoot deliver shock-absorbing features and propulsion. A TPU material in the midfoot adds torsional rigidity for better support and enhances transitions.
Asics Gel Pulse 8 Upper
Same as with the shoe's recent version, the Gel Pulse 9 is a very open mesh covers most of the upper of the Asics Pulse 8 for superb breathability. Giving the shoe added support in the heel is an external heel counter. The tongue and the ankle collar are very well-padded for a luxurious step-in feel. A standard sockliner adds cushioning in comfort in this shoe.
