- Asics concentrated the changes in the upper of the Gel Pursue 3. While the mesh is slightly softer and more forgiving, Asics added overlays in both the heel and the forefoot to provide structure and support. There is a new welded eyelet support that extends to the welded forefoot overlay. This enhances durability and foot security.
- The external heel counter is more structured as well. It should hold the heel in place very well. Finally, the tongue is a little beefier than before for better comfort.
Asics Gel Pursue 3 Size and fit
The Asics Pursue 3 has a snug fit, just like the prior model. It nicely secures the heel and midfoot with adequate breathing room in the forefoot. As always, this is the type of fit that should be very comfortable for those with narrow to medium feet. The sizing is standard in this shoe.
Asics Gel Pursue 3 Outsole
Asics blends AHAR rubber in the heel and other areas prone to wear and tear for better durability while a blown AHAR rubber is in the forefoot for enhanced traction. With a very prominent vertical flex groove converging with deep forefoot flex grooves, the shoe gets a nice dose of flexibility.
Asics Gel Pursue 3 Midsole
Manning the midsole is Asics’s latest midsole technology in the FluidRide. It is very light with exceptional bounce back features and durability. As it covers the entire midsole, the transition is enhanced in this shoe. Beneath this strip of foam are the Gel cushioning units in the heel and forefoot for shock-absorption and responsiveness. Asics’ TPU in the midsole adds torsional stability in the shoe.
Asics Gel Pursue 3 Upper
An engineered mesh offers excellent ventilation in the Pursue 3 and its new version the Gel Pursue 5. As the upper is seamless, there are lesser risks of getting blisters. The tongue and collar are adequately padded. Asics ramps up the cushioning and comfort by using a Comfordry Sockliner, which is also utilized for its anti-microbial properties. 3M reflective material makes low-visibility running doable.
